      • What we learn about Dumbledore's sexuality in 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' (SPOILERS)

Dumbledore's sexuality addressed in 'Fantastic Beasts' sequel

Warning: This article contains spoilers for “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” The sexuality of Hogwarts professor Albus Dumbledore is not a central part of the newest “Fantastic Beasts” movie, but the film does address the subject in a way previous releases have not. In the movie, in theaters Friday, Dumbledore (played by Jude Law) teases that he and the villainous Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) were even closer than brothers...

The ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’ problem: Why is Hollywood giving Johnny Depp a pass?

Would you cast Johnny Depp as a blockbuster villain? The actor has a reputation for terrorizing his own sets. In 2017, The Hollywood Reporter cited sources close to the production of the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with “tales of excessive drinking, physical fights with [Amber] Heard and constant lateness on set, which often left hundreds of extras waiting for hours at a time.” Last May, Page Six reported that...

      • Why Lady Gaga will never be the same after 'A Star Is Born'

Lady Gaga can’t shake her character from “A Star Is Born.” And she doesn’t want to. “I feel Ally inside of me,” Gaga says of the rising musical icon she plays in the film. “I wonder how long she’ll stay. Or if she’ll be in there forever.” This symbiotic relationship is evident at her Variety photo shoot at her home in Malibu, a week before she had to evacuate due to the Woolsey Fire. Gaga isn’t sure what she’ll wear at first. Inspiration ...

      • 1993 was a year to remember. Bill Clinton was sworn in as the 42nd president of the United States, “The X-Files” premiered on Fox, and Snoop Dogg released “Doggystyle.” It was also a great year for Hollywood, with monster blockbusters, rom coms, housekeeper disguises, and orca whale tales topping the charts. It was the year Leonardo DiCaprio became a star of the silver screen, and when Tom Hanks proved he could carry a drama. It brought us a feature by the esteemed creators of “South Park” and tag lines like “I’m your huckleberry.” There were witches, talking dogs, and grumpy old men. In honor of 1993's movies turning 25 this year, Stacker has compiled a list ranking the year's 50 best films, based on their IMDb rankings. To be considered, films must have originated in the U.S., and have at least 10,000 votes. Read on to see if your favorite film of the year made the list.RELATED: 100 best movies of all time

      • “Sa-a-a-d movies always make me cry,” sang Sue Thompson in her 1961 hit song of (almost) the same name. In her case, as it turned out, it wasn’t really the movie that brought tears to her eyes but the sight of her best friend and her “darlin’” making out in the dark in front of her. But movies themselves do make people cry — and not just lovelorn teenagers, either. What makes a movie sad? Doomed romance, dashed hopes, the demise of a beloved institution or a way of life…and death, of course — of a loved one, a self-sacrificing hero, a sad-eyed animal.Everyone has a different idea of what’s sad and what isn’t, to be sure; like humor, it’s a matter of taste and temperament. You might be sobbing through a film’s finale while somebody next to you is nodding off from boredom. You might be laughing at the absurdity of a cinematic twist of fate while everybody else in the theatre is sniffling and dabbing at their tear ducts.By researching published lists of sad movies and weighing in ourselves, based on our own film-going experiences and definitions of “sad,” 24/7 Wall St. was able to come up with a list of what we think could fairly be considered the saddest movies ever made. You may disagree with some of our choices, wondering where your favorite poignant epic is, or how we could be saddened by this or that silly flick, but trust us: These hundred films will bring tears to almost everybody’s eyes.In case you’re tempted to watch some of these for the first time, by the way, be forewarned: There are spoilers galore in the summaries that follow.

Private funeral held for Stan Lee, more memorials in works

A small, private funeral has been held to mourn Marvel Comics mogul Stan Lee, and his company is making more plans to memorialize him. Lee's POW! Entertainment says Friday that Lee insisted he did not want a large, public funeral. The company says it has set up a memorial wall on Lee's website where friends and fans can share tributes, and messages from fellow creators and artists will appear on Lee's social media pages soon. More memorial plans are in the works. The 95-year-old Lee died Monday.
