At 52, Halle Berry has the skin of a woman decades younger: smooth, glowing, and wrinkle-free. Over the weekend, the flawlessly faced star revealed some of her skincare secrets-and they involve exercise, as well as a skincare product that she swears is “magic.”
On Berry’s PHIT TALKS, a regular segment she features on her Instagram account devoted to everything health, wellness, and beauty related, the actress explained that exercise is fundamental in achieving great skin.
“I do believe that exercise is so related to healthy skin and how you not only feel but how you look. Cardio. Cardio Cardio. Getting the blood running through your body is so good for your complexion,” she said. Berry maintains she has actually seen her skin transform over the years by getting her heart racing. “Sweat, and the cheeks get naturally flushed,” she added.
Science backs her up on this one. In fact, research has found a link between exercise and anti-aging at the cellular level. One recent study published in the journal Preventive Medicine found that people who vigorously exercised-the equivalent of jogging 30 to 40 minutes a day five days per week-had biological aging markers that appeared nearly a decade younger than those who didn’t exercise at all.
In addition to fitness, she attributes her sensational skin to Los Angeles skincare guru Olga Lorencin, whose clients also include Jessica Alba and Eva Mendes. Berry reveals she has been going to Lorencin’s clinic for almost 18 years, and the aesthetician-to-the-stars has a new product that she swears by for youthful skin.
The Olga Lorencin Ageless Facial in a Box is “a facial you put on your face and it works overnight,” Berry explained. You put it on two steps: step one is a no-rinse peel made with succinic acid derived from sugar cane, and step two is a no-rinse hydrating sleep mask made with silver mushroom extract (which is meant to be even more hydrating than hyaluronic acid). Apply it before bed, wake up and “you have had a facial working on your face all night,” Berry said.
According to Lorencin’s website, the mask exfoliates skin to smooth and brighten the complexion, helps increase skin cell turnover, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, minimizes and refines the appearance of pores, evens out skin tone, and rapidly hydrates.
Olga Lorencin’s skincare line (formally called Kinara) is available at Nordstrom and Dermstore, so even if you aren’t in the market for an overnight mask like the Ageless Facial, she has other masks and products worth checking out, like a wrinkle-fighting eye cream and weightless moisturizer for dry skin.
